Add to Home Screen

Install Grassroots Radio as an app for a better listening experience.

Why install?

  • Plays with your screen locked — audio continues when your phone goes to sleep.

  • Looks and feels like a native app — launches full-screen from your home screen icon.
  • Faster startup — cached assets load instantly on a slow connection.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open grassrootsradio.stream in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap "Add to Home screen" — or tap the install icon in the address bar.
  4. Confirm by tapping "Add" or "Install".

Works in Chrome, Edge, and most Chromium-based browsers on Android.

iPhone & iPad (Safari)

  1. Open grassrootsradio.stream in Safari. (Won't work in Chrome or Firefox on iOS.)
  2. Tap the Share button (⬆) at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Edit the name if you like, then tap "Add".

Requires iOS 16.4 or later for full background-audio support.

Desktop (Chrome / Edge)

  1. Open grassrootsradio.stream in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Click the install icon (⊕) in the address bar — or open the browser menu and choose "Install Grassroots Radio" (Chrome) or "Install this site as an app" (Edge).
  3. Click "Install" to confirm.

Works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Firefox does not support PWA installation.

Mac (Safari)

  1. Open grassrootsradio.stream in Safari.
  2. Open the File menu and choose "Add to Dock".
  3. Click "Add" to confirm.

Requires macOS Sonoma (14) or later.

Uninstall

Remove Grassroots Radio from your home screen.

Android

  1. Long-press the Grassroots Radio icon on your home screen.
  2. Tap "Uninstall" or drag it to the Uninstall target at the top of the screen.
  3. Confirm by tapping "OK".

Alternatively: Settings → Apps → Grassroots Radio → Uninstall.

iPhone & iPad

  1. Long-press the Grassroots Radio icon on your home screen.
  2. Tap "Remove App".
  3. Tap "Delete App" to confirm.

Desktop — Chrome

  1. In Chrome, navigate to chrome://apps.
  2. Right-click Grassroots Radio and choose "Remove from Chrome".
  3. Check "Also clear data" if you want a clean removal, then click "Remove".

Desktop — Edge

  1. In Edge, navigate to edge://apps.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on Grassroots Radio and choose "Uninstall".
  3. Confirm by clicking "Remove".

Mac (Safari)

  1. Open Launchpad or the Applications folder.
  2. Find Grassroots Radio and drag it to the Trash — or right-click and choose "Move to Trash".
